Akupunktur Tedavisi

Globally, the use of traditional and alternative medicine is expanding at a rapid rate. Individual factors, including the nature of the disease, cultural background, and occasionally improved accessibility to these services, as well as the expectations of cancer patients with regard to an improvement in their quality of life, substantially raise the interest in these treatments within the field of oncology. Acupuncture has been used as an alternative treatment modality in traditional Chinese medicine for approximately 2500 years. Acupuncture, derived from the Latin terms acus (needle) and puncture (prick), is a method of therapy characterised by the insertion of sterile, thin metallic needles into specific anatomical locations throughout the body. Oncology and acupuncture applications are a growing and novel field of study. Numerous comprehensive cancer centres worldwide undertake research investigating the potential of acupuncture as a symptom management strategy in cancer. A summary of the areas of application of acupuncture in oncology, as well as its efficacy and potential adverse effects in cancer patients, is provided in this section.
