Success in endodontic treatments is achieved by completely cleaning, shaping and ideally filling the root canals in three dimensions. For this, knowledge of the morphology of root canals with a complex structure and careful radiographic examination are essential. As more anatomical differences are reported and the shortcomings of existing systems become more apparent, new classification systems that provide more detailed information have been proposed for use by clinicians, students, and academics.
