Hurma (Phoenix Dactylifera)
Synopsis
Date fruit, owing to its high antioxidants, serves as a natural source that can reduce cell damage caused by free radicals. The inhibitory effects of antioxidants on the formation and spread of cancer cells are significant factors supporting the potential impact of dates on cancer treatment. Additionally, studies on the inhibitory effects of phytochemicals, especially proanthocyanidins, found in dates against cancer cells, suggest that dates may play an effective role in combating cancer.
Traditional medicine and complementary treatment methods focus on the effects of medicinal plants provided by nature on health and have been utilized in various cultures for centuries. Dates have been used for medicinal and nutritional purposes in many cultures, from the Middle East to the Far East. Traditional medicine supports the potential of dates in cancer treatment based on its rich antioxidant content and nutritional values. Understanding how dates can be integrated into cancer treatment using traditional methods can contribute significantly to the exploration of alternative treatment approaches in modern medicine.
